Hundreds celebrate the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi in Dublin – Dublin Video

published: 2019-04-15 09:00:02

RTÉ heard that hundreds of people celebrated the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi in Dublin on Sunday. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar joined the celebrations at the Sikh Temple in Ballsbridge, Dublin becoming the first Taoiseach to attend the event.

RTÉ heard from one Skih woman who told them “we have to teach our kids what day is it because they born here, they don’t know anything. If we don’t tell them, if we don’t come here, they wouldn’t know what it is when they grow up so it is very important and big day for us.”

Representatives of the Gardaí were also in attendance and RTÉ heard that members of the Sikh community welcomed the decision to allow Sikhs to wear their head gear on duty if they become members of the police force.

RTÉ heard that Sikhs hope that initiatives like this will help improve diversity in Ireland and further integrate the Indian community.

  7. If we’ve got to have immigrants at all then I would pick Sikhs over almost any others. They value their traditions they are generally honest, hard working, family oriented, godly people. Oh, now who else does that sound like? 🇮🇪

  12. I would have the capacity to appreciate their culture if it were in their OWN Countries. Instead, while Middle Easterners and other 3rd worlders celebrating “THEIR” culture at the expense of destroying “OURS” we are left with nothing to cheer but left to morn. Diversity is the greatest hypocrisy that destroys exactly what it claims to promote. Diversity only means European cultures within our Countries don’t have the right to exist, are granted no celebration, rights of pride or protection as God forbid, that would make us racist! The only thing Diversity causes is division and resentment. History has unequivocally proven this is how every Civilization collapsed. Oh but I forgot, the Left are Gods that defy the laws of human nature.

  18. As much as I respect the Sikhs, they are not Irish and the only reason why they're in Ireland is to replace the Irish people. At the end of the day mass immigration no matter if the people are nice or not is for the purpose of replacing the indigenous European population by any means necessary, if that means bringing in good immigrants to get people to buy into multiculturalism, then they'll do it.
